KiN Board 2019/2020

Don Scarlett
President

Don has been a KiN Board member since 2009, presently Board Chair.  Sees KiN’s Internet service as essential to the economy of Kaslo and North Kootenay Lake and believes rural areas deserve the same level of service as cities.

Holds mechanical engineering degree and has run a small electrical contracting business in Kaslo since 1973.  Specializes in construction planning and volunteers for construction, equipment installation, and welding/fabrication when needed.

Tim Ryan
Treasurer

Tim was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta. Tim has been involved in the photographic industry and information technology industries for most of his working career, founding Technicare Inc. and later Technicare Imaging Ltd. with partners and built it into the largest digital imaging production company in Canada.

Tim and his wife Anne bought property in Kaslo in 2001 and became permanent residents in 2003. The very limited Internet services in Kaslo led him to join the Kaslo Broadband Committee and later the Board of Kaslo InfoNet to build the access capacity for Kaslo and North Kootenay Lake.

Maggie Winters
Secretary

Maggie and her husband Steve bought property in Kaslo in 2003 becoming permanent residents in 2005. A former healthcare executive, consultant and university instructor, Maggie holds undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Nursing and a Masters in Business Administration.

She has volunteered in a number of Kaslo organizations including serving as Secretary/Treasurer for the Kaslo and Area Chamber of Commerce, Secretary for the Kaslo and Area D Health Care Select Committee and member of the Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism Board. Maggie recognizes the importance of a robust broadband service to successful economic development efforts in Kaslo and the surrounding communities.

Graham Gilbert
Vice-President

Graham was born in Edmonton and as an armed forces dependent lived in many places across Canada and in Europe. He joined a Bank after school and worked his way through positions of progressively increased responsibility with 3 different Banks over 38 years until retiring as an executive officer. After retirement he held a contract position as Ombudsman for a bank for 15 years as well. During his career he worked with many volunteer organizations and service clubs.

Graham moved to Kaslo in 2003 and has continued to work with numerous organizations since his arrival. While not overly technically adept, his overall business experience will hopefully be useful to KIN.
